A build up of toxins come in the guise of shampoos, conditioners and many styling products. These excessive oils, silicones and baddies build up on the surface and within the fibre of your hair. They may make your hair temporarily shiny and soft but over time they deposit a build up, creating a barrier that inhibits they most precious ingredent to your curls: water.
Although difficult to remove, a clarifying shampoo can help. Used when there is a buildup present and occasionally when needed, shampoo the hair and allow this to sit for five minutes before risning.
Apple cider vinegar is another one of my super heroes to the rescue. Used in a ratio of 1:10 parts water, use this to rinse your hair. Do some research and patch test your skin to ensure this is right for you.
Once you begin using curl compatible water soluable haircare products, bets are that you won't need to do this again.
